Iphone 5S

Rumour has it that Apple is set to release the iPhone 5S in August and the next-generation iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 in April, according to iMore. The new report collaborates with others in the past, saying the iPhone 5S will have the same design as the current iPhone 5, but will feature an improved processor and camera.Similar upgrades happened with both the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S, focusing more on the software than the overall hardware features. The new report seems to make sense, though it’s not clear why Apple would choose August over October – November.

Wikipad Announces Inexpensive Mobile Gaming

wikipad
The portable gaming market has been evolving briskly lately, as just a few weeks ago at CES 2013, we got our first hands-on look at both the Razer Edge gaming tablet and NVIDIA’s Project SHIELD mobile gaming device. Now there’s another kid on the block called the Wikipad.

The 7-inch tablet is similar to the aforementioned gaming devices in that it’s designed first and foremost for gaming and also has a controller attachment to give a more console-like experience. The Wikipad runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor (with 12-core GPU), 1280×800 (16:10) IPS display that supports 5-point touch input, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (with the customary 32GB microSD slot), 2MP front-facing camera, and dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.

Razer Edge formally known as Project Fiona

Good news for those who have been on the ‘edge’ of their seats waiting for the arrival of Razer’s Project Fiona: the gaming tablet/laptop hybrid all set for arrival in Q1 in the US.
The Razer Edge and the Razer Edge Pro are been fully fleshed out at CES 2013, the former priced at a relatively reasonable-sounding $999 (c£620) and packing a Core i5, discrete Nvidia GT 640M GPU, 4 gigs of RAM and a 64GB SSD.
The Pro version starts at $1299 (£810) with Core i7, discrete Nvidia GT 640M GPU, 8 gigs of RAM and 128GB SSD (or add some cash for a 256GB version).

Microsoft rumoured to be working on Xbox Surface, a 7-inch tablet designed specifically for gaming

Microsoft is said to be working on its own 7-inch tablet, but unlike the iPad mini, it’ll be focussed on gaming.

Sources familiar with the plans have confirmed to The Verge that the Xbox Surface tablet is on the way.

Specs for the tablet leaked back in June. The sources have confirmed that they’re correct and that Microsoft is working on the final implementation now.

So the Xbox Surface should run on a custom ARM processor and high-bandwidth RAM designed for gaming. But these specs could change to make way for an as-yet unannounced Intel SoC.

The Xbox Surface won’t run a full version of Windows, but a custom Windows Kernel, much like the Amazon Kindle Fire does with Android.

It should have some functions of a normal tablet, but the focus will be very much on gaming.

The Xbox Surface should be manufactured in the same factory as other Microsoft products, but separate from the companies that usually put together its devices. Any fully-fledged next-gen console, like the rumoured Xbox 720, should be made by Pegatron or Foxconn as usual.

Microsoft is said to be developing the Xbox Surface at its Silicon Valley offices. It recently locked down some Xbox-related buildings there, hinting it was testing some new gaming hardware. Other parts of the Xbox team are likely to be experimenting with making games and software for it.

The device is expected to be announced ahead of the Xbox 720, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we see if these rumours are on the money.

This could be good
